Donna Kay Scott was born in Highland, Illinois and raised in Collinsville, Illinois. She was married and is the mother of two children, Deena and Stanley Scott and the proud grandmother of two boys.
Donna received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, Behavior Disorders. She began her career at Mamie O. Stookey School for The Severe and Profound Mentally and Physically Handicapped in Belleville, Illinois where she taught for 10 years. She spent a year in the St. Louis Missouri Public Schools teaching 6thth Grade Behavioral Disordered classes. From there she spent 6 years teaching at the Children Center for the Behavior Disordered in East St. Louis, Illinois. Ms. Scott spent the remainder of her career, which spanned a total of 34 years, as a Behavior Specialist, in the East St. Louis School District 189 teaching Learning Disability classes to students ranging from kindergarten to the 12 grade. She retired from her formal teaching profession in 2012. However, Donna continues to teach volunteering at the Cahokia, Illinois Library as a tutor in reading and math.
During her years at Mamie O. Stookey School, Donna met Mrs. JoAnn Tucker (Vice-President of New Age Truth of Missouri) who was a teaching assistant in her classroom at that time. In conversations with Mrs. Tucker, Donna was introduced to New Age Truth and Master Teacher, Dr. David M. Berry. She decided to attend a public lecture during one of his visits to St. Louis. Donna was impressed and inspired by the wisdom in his teachings and the philosophy for living life as defined by New Age Truth. She said, “I could relate to his examples of living life constructively. I wanted to learn more.” In 1984, Donna became a member of New Age Truth of Missouri and a student of Master Berry. She says, “One of the first things I learned was that I was responsible for my own life choices and not to blame others for the results.” At that point, I began my practice to live life more constructively for me.
